rubio would have been the best choice to run with mitt romney. it's not a knock on congressman paul ryan he did very well. it's just that the g.o.p. knees to send a powerful signal to g.o.p. voters that respect them. they cast approximately 11 million ballots yesterday. obama beat romney by less than 3 million in the popular vote. the good news for the republics is that the pressure is now on president obama and the democrats. if the economy doesn't improve dramatically over the next four years, the democratic party will evaporate. simple as that what is more complicated is the mind set of the american people. as i reported last night during the election coverage about half of all american homes are now receiving some kind of government entitlement. some earned, some not. so any effort to reform or cut back on entitlements is a tough sell. but it's going to have to be done. president obama won because he effectively put together a coalition of the willing. voters who had something to gain by keeping him in office. but with the nation heading towards financial insolvency, possible bankrup

think paul ryan on the list is a really good choice. >> bill: paul ryan, everyone? >> he actually wasn't -- he wound up not being that quote, unquote big of a deal in the presidential race. but if you think about it he is the one guy trying to put together ideas how do we solve these long-term fiscal problems that countries around the world are facing. how are you going to deal with long-term entitlements. >> bill: i mocked powers and now i have to mock you. >> all right. >> bill: ryan hasn't accomplished it yet. if ryan were to accomplish the things that he wants to accomplish and bring the federal budget under control and get the two parties together to get a responsible budget then he would without a doubt be person of the year he hasn't. he couldn't even carry his state. kristen, he couldn't even carry his state. >> i don't think he is to blame for that. >> bill: that's they put him on the ticket they needed a state like wisconsin. i don't think either of those men rise. now, bill clinton why would he be person of the year. >> he got barack obama elected. that's the view of "time"

you go. >> bill: what happened to paul ryan? is he still in the race or take a vacation. i haven't seen him. >> sure you have. >> bill: where? >> if you are watching the news reports we are doing on fox news. is he a part of most of these pieces is he out there. >> bill: where? i'm telling you he disappeared. >> someone gets named vice presidential slot on the ticket and there is a noflt effect. the person looks like they are going to upstage the candidate. it never happens. >> bill: i don't know where he is. you need a g.p.s. to find him and same thing with biden. biden is in pennsylvania all day long. >> you hear about these guys. >> bill: now, is there any chance that our pal dick morris is right that it's going to break romney's way big? >> i suppose there is a chance. i think there is a greater chance that you get a big romney win and you get a great big obama win. but i don't foresee a huge landslide. >> bill: not going to be this hanging chad thing? we can't go through that again. >> that was 37 days. >> bill: we can't go through that again. >> i was anchor the news covera

that if marco rubio had been the vice presidential choice instead of paul ryan that that would have made a difference in florida, virginia, nevada, and colorado? >> no. it wouldn't have made enough of a difference in this election. but if marco rubio is the presidential candidate, in 2016, and the party begins to advocate, enforcement, plus amnesty after enforcement, i think it will be a sea change. i think you will get a revolution of the hispanic vote. i think it will restore all this talk about how republics are demographickics ticket is nonsense. >> thank you as always. >> a pleasure. >> bill: factor tip of the day about you and christmas. the tip 60 seconds away. >> bill: i'm glad you are talking to the kids about thisi. lisa. zbloogt thinking why beed bus end >> bill: we can find no such evidence, charles. if you have it. please forward it to me. >> bill: wow, that is some great wife, tim. especially since the vegas show is sold out. the only one that still has seats is in houston. contend and lincoln number three and kennedy number one.

that somehow. >> i think paul ryan and mitt romney have done a very good job talking about what a real recovery looks like. what a recovery in the early 1980s began to look like when you are creating hundreds of thousands of jobs. not 150,000 jobs. or 100,000 jobs. i think people know what a recovery feels like around their own kitchen tables. that's why that ad that ran with the family just sitting in silence at dinner was so powerful during this election cycle because it was the anxiety that so many people feel, bill, regardless of politics. they know how their own family feels. >> bill: that's why governor romney is running strong in so many places. it's all about the economy. you don't disagree with me that libya is going to matter? no matter what comes out? >> well, i think it its actually played out already as far as the way the people think. i don't think we will learn anything else. the drip, drip, drip has been pretty interesting in the last few days. again, the press totally falling down. >> i think catherine herridge -- >> -- yeah, catherine, of course. >> bill: you know, look, there
